Reddit's saved posts limit, and how to get every save back
Reddit only shows your 1,000 most recent saves. Everything older is still saved, but nothing on Reddit will list it for you. Here's how to tell if you've hit the limit, and how to get every save back.
What the limit is
Every list Reddit shows you stops at 1,000 items, and your saved list is one of them. Posts and comments share it, so it's 1,000 saves in total, not 1,000 of each.
Save one more and the oldest one slips off the end of the list. Reddit doesn't warn you. If you've been saving for years, the recipe, the guide or the thread you went looking for may be past the end of a list that looks complete.
Switching between the Reddit app, new Reddit and old Reddit won't help. They all show the same list.
Your old saves aren't deleted
Reddit still keeps every save past the limit. It just won't list them. The one place they all appear is Reddit's copy of your account data, which you can request at any time. Reddit describes its saved posts file as all the posts you have saved.
How to tell if you've hit it
-
Open your saved list on old Reddit, a hundred at a time: old.reddit.com/user/YOUR_NAME/saved/?limit=100
-
Keep pressing next until it runs out.
-
Count the pages. If the list ends after about ten pages, before saves you know are older, you've hit the limit.
How to get all of them back
Reddit's data request is the only way past the limit, and it's free.
-
Open reddit.com/settings/data-request on a computer, signed in to your account, and submit the request.
-
Wait for the message. Reddit says preparing it can take up to 30 days. A message with the download link arrives in your Reddit inbox.
-
Open the download. It's a zip of spreadsheet (CSV) files. saved_posts.csv is every post you've saved, and saved_comments.csv is every comment.
Lost access to your account? Reddit accepts the request by email to [email protected], sent from the email address verified on the account.
Keep the saves you can see, for good
While you wait for the download, get your newest 1,000 out of Reddit today. Findy's import brings every save in your list across in one run, comments included. It keeps the text and a copy of the image, so a save still works after the post is deleted or the community goes private.
Then you can find any of them by what you remember, not by scrolling. Run the import again whenever you like: it brings in your new saves and skips the ones you already have.

Quick answers
Is it 1,000 posts or 1,000 saves?
1,000 saves. Saved posts and saved comments count towards the same list.
Did Reddit delete my old saves?
No. They're still saved to your account; Reddit just won't list anything past your 1,000 most recent. Your data request includes them all.
How long does Reddit's data request take?
Reddit says up to 30 days. The download link arrives in your Reddit inbox.
Does the export include the posts themselves?
No. It lists a link for each save. The posts stay on Reddit, so once one is deleted, its link leads nowhere.
